Mary K. {Class of 2021}
I always love a good road trip for a photo session and Detroit's beautiful Belle Isle is an adventure that never disappoints. The day of Mary's senior portraits, we discovered that our original location didn't allow professional photography on the grounds, so we quickly adjusted plans and decided to double my travel and head towards Detroit. I was excited to ride in the car (without a toddler), jamming to my own music, blasting the AC and prepping for a beautiful evening of photos. I've always loved the weird balance of vibes Belle Isle gives off between eerie and ghostly pasts versus the beautiful and timeless architecture. Crossing that bridge to the island is like stepping back in time, where I envision the environment full of life and entertainment, when in reality it is loaded with overgrown, broken down, and almost forgotten about areas. Amongst the shambles though are beautiful landmarks that will forever be a hotspot for tourism and photography including the conservatory and aquarium buildings, the casino, and the gorgeous fountain. A location like this is every photographer's dream and a model like Mary makes it all that much more successful. Mary was a rockstar her entire session and it shows in her amazing portraits! She was confident in her own skin and balanced the perfect amount of serious glares, little smirks and laugh out loud smiles. What a beauty! Riding around the island and adventuring together made for a very fun evening and I am in absolute love with our final images. What started out to be a threatening evening precipitation wise, turned into one of the most gorgeous sunset evening skies I have ever photographed in. I am so thankful for my time on Belle Isle with Mary and her mama and I thank you ladies for sparking adventure that night. I hope you love your images as much as I do and I thank you for choosing me to showcase this time in your life. Mary, enjoy your upcoming senior year. Roll with the punches as I'm sure your last year of high school will be very different from years past and soak it all in. Best of luck to you and congrats in advance!
